Dr John Montgomery BVSc
Graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1972 and built the first veterinary practice in Eden NSW before establishing Sonza in 1990. Over 50 years a vet, with clients driving in from as far as Newcastle and Albury. His father ‘Monty’ was a vet before him, and his grandfather a physician.
Dr Hayden Montgomery BVBio BVSc
John and Gill’s son, graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2021. Grew up in the practice and now consults alongside his father, with a special interest in reproduction and breeding.
Gill Montgomery RVN
Practice manager and head nurse, qualified in veterinary nursing and equine studies. The reason the whole place runs, by their own admission.

Why this looks different
What this is
A working concept of what sonza.com.au could be. Not one page but three: the veterinary clinic, the Paint Horse stud and the kennel, each with its own environment, switchable from the bar at the top. Built using almost only what Sonza already owns: their own photos, their own words, their real fees, show records and health results. Nothing here is invented; every fact comes from their current website. The booking buttons point at Sonza’s real online booking, which already works today.
What I guessed at
- Opening hours. They’re not printed on the current site, so I’ve written “consultations by appointment” instead. I’d put the hours front and centre.
- Which services deserve top billing. I picked six, but the vets would know better.
- The colours. I took the navy from the booking widget Sonza already uses.
- Boarding fees. I used the schedule published on the current site. If they’ve changed, that’s a two-minute fix.
- Two pictures are not Sonza’s: the puppy and kitten on the vaccinations card, and the cattery suite on the cats card. Both are created illustrations, standing in until real photos are taken.
What I’d do next
- Finish all three, not just the clinic. Your structure is already right: three separate sites on one address, with the Explore Sonza bar between them. That is exactly how it should be, and it is worth keeping, because everything the Sonza name has earned over the years feeds one domain instead of being split three ways. What is missing is that only one of the three currently gets to make a first impression. All three environments here are built and clickable, each with its own look, and each can be taken much further: the full show record, every mare and stud dog with pedigree and test results, foals as they arrive, litters as they are planned.
- Put the reviews and the booking button everywhere. 349 reviews at 4.7 is the strongest asset Sonza owns, and the Vetstoria booking already works. It plugs straight in.
- Move email onto the domain. sonza.com.au is already yours, and mail on your own name looks the part and can’t be mistaken for anyone else.
Who did this
I’m Steve, and I run BASE 38, a web studio in Australia. I’ve done this before: full rebuilds for established Australian businesses, from retail to professional services. This is a bigger job than one website and I have treated it that way, because Sonza is bigger than one business. Everything here is a starting point rather than a finished site, and every one of the three can be worked out in as much detail as you want. Yours to correct.
